The Thin Line Part 3 Finale

I’ve been writing for the past few weeks about The Thin Line – above it, Life, Happiness, Love & God. Below it, Death, Sadness, Hatred, Anti-God – and how we tend to gravitate and pull one another, even those we love, to go below this line. It’s all because of our ‘cursed’ sinful-nature. The things we say, do, act upon and post all reflect on what we want to show others, even our own personal selves. Does this mean we shouldn’t share these negative feelings of hatred and angst? Won’t these drag people below the Thin Line? Here’s the clinker: We are FREE (at least in the United States) to say what’s on our minds!

Americans all have ‘Freedom of Speech’. We get to say what we want, when we want and how we want. It’s part of the American Core! We are free to share Love. We are free to share Hate. That’s Man’s law here in America. We are free to say what we think of the President/Politician or to spread the latest celebrity gossip scandal. And we LOVE it! Heck, some of us LIVE for it! Of course, we are free to defend ourselves. And, yes, we are free to vent. Even to share hatred. To share things that make us so aggravated that we simply must share this aggravation with others in hopes that they too will become aggravated (escort them below the line)! (Arghh!) After all, we don’t want to feel this way by ourselves, do we? So, we share it.

Man’s Law does protect us. But is Man’s Law equal to what God has in mind? God is Love. God is also Hope, Caring, Laughter, Truth, Positivity, Joy (you get the rest). God is not (and never will be) about gossip, hatred, scandal, lies, death and the rest of those things. Yet, Man’s Law – Freedom of Speech – gives us the right to share both – and we CAN! Just be prepared for the consequences. If something upsets us, we have the power to stop it from upsetting others. If it’s upsetting information that would benefit others (we absolutely need to know), then, yes – INFORM us! Just ask the question: “Would God WANT me to share this?” Trust me, you’ll know the answer – IF you talk to God!

Exactly who are we trying to ‘impress’ when we share our hatreds? Our political and religious differences? Our different ethnic backgrounds? Where we grew up? Why do we so desperately attempt to show our ‘neighbors’ that we’re right and they aren’t? The ONLY One that we should be concerned about what we do and how we act is, God. Only God. We don’t realize it – nor even care about that right now – but, we will. And it’ll be here sooner than we think. It’ll arrive at the drop of a hat – when we least expect it – and then - IT WILL MATTER! It will matter so much that the rest of our existence (yes, there is one) will DEPEND on what we do, TODAY!

So, feel free (because we are free, according to Man’s Law) to share what’s on our minds. We may continue to uplift moods or downgrade them – the choice is ours! But, inevitably, one day, it will be God’s. Will you, personally, uplift someone today?

The Thin Line Part 2

“Na na (teasing)! I have something you don’t know! Ha ha! I have power over you, na na na na poo poo!” Let’s face it – you’ve come across this person before (maybe even yesterday). It’s that person that ‘has THE information, about someone or something, that YOU don’t know about and they’re just dying to hover it above your head! THEY have INFORMATION – a highly touted prize, especially during wartime! After all, people have been tortured for it!

Last week we touched briefly on being ‘above’ the line’ (positive, God-like, etc.) and being ‘below the line’ (negative, Anti-God, etc. Review Part 1 if you need to – it’ll help). We all have family and friends that we love dearly, don’t we? We’d give them most anything if not everything to make them ‘feel good’ – to help them rise ‘ABOVE The Thin Line’. Here’s a scenario (I speak of no one in particular but, I’m sure you can relate):

Loved one: “Ooohh, ARGHH! This guy (politician, actor, etc.) makes me SOOOO ANGRY! (Scream!) I can't believe what they said or did! I’m feeling totally BELOW The Thin Line right now! I know what I’ll do – I’m going to spread my ‘negativity’ to ALL the people I love! I want them to feel as annoyed as I do and infect them with it, too – I love them so much, I’m gonna drag them BELOW the line with me! BWAAHAHA!)”

You: “What in the world just happened?! I was minding my own happy, business on social media (or wherever) and I just read a very ‘below-the-line’ post from someone that I love. Their post was so negative, they made me take a head-long drop into the ‘abyss’. Now, I’M feeling sick and angry, too! Ooh, I’m so upset, I’m gonna share this post to keep the ‘negativity’ spreading across the country!! BWAAAHAHA!”

Are you sharing helpful information that’s informative? Are you sharing information to assist your loved ones to go ‘ABOVE The Thin Line’? Or are you sharing information in hopes that you steer your ‘loved ones’ BELOW – right towards the BOTTOM of the sea bed like a broken shipwreck?

Our duty (from God Himself) is to uplift others. Yet, like the Covid Virus, we love to keep the ‘bad stuff’ alive – infecting as many people as we can with it. What’s wrong with us? Is God ‘with us’ when we ‘spread the bad’? (Well, He’s always with us). This is the absolute nature (not God’s intent) of a human being. It actually requires a very difficult, conscience effort, to head to and remain ABOVE The Thin Line. Can you remain above it? YOU have to become the vaccine – the CURE to STOP THE SPREAD of ‘bad feelings’ etc.!

Stop supporting and stop spreading things that steer ‘loved ones’ ‘below the line’ (after all, you DO love them, no?) – those things belong ‘below the line’. You, however, don’t. Become inoculated, today, so that YOU may avoid, and eventually eradicate, the ‘sickness’.

The Thin Line Part 1

The Thin Line - Part 1

“I’m telling you, watch this movie! It is absolutely fantastic!” “If you’re ordering pizza, you should go to ‘A Slice of Italy’, they’re delicious!” “I just downloaded their new album – it’s probably their best!” Ah, recommendations. They’re infectious. Their ‘disease-making’ path can spread like wildfire (and often does). This Covid-19 virus is also infectious. An infection that we DON’T want but, once spread, you must perform some dance moves to avoid it. Infection can be good or bad. Such is the case of Love and Hate.

Let’s draw a horizontal line – we’ll call it, The Thin Line. Above the line (we’ll call this side, Positivity), let’s write the following words; God, Love, Hope, Peace, Joy, Order, Laughter, Life. Those words make you feel good, don’t they? Now let’s go below the line (we’ll call this side, Negativity), and write the following words; Anti-Christ, Hate, Evil, Anger, Chaos, Confrontation, Anarchy, Death. Kinda makes you feel a bit annoyed, right? These two sides are infectious – the bottom one, unfortunately, spreads much quicker than the top. Sad, but true.

Let’s now look at this word, Encouragement. One might think that this word is only associated with the ‘Positive’ side of the line, however, it works exactly the same for below the line. God – with all the intended plans He put into motion – is above The Thin Line. The Anti-Christ is below. Make sense?
Are YOU an ‘encourager’? You BET you are! You might not realize it but, everything people see you do – whether how they view your life or follow your social media posts - you ARE encouraging someone! Which way do you encourage others? Do you steer them above or below The Thin Line? Do you like to share information? Sure, we all do! But, what does that information do to ‘encourage’ someone? Now let’s look at the media.

The media’s job is to inform us. But, what kind of encouragement do they deliver? Do they tend to bring us above or below The Thin Line? The Media fills us with report after report that push stories (topics & people) BELOW the line. Huh? Why? Because these stories sell! There might be a small blurb about something that occurred ABOVE the line, but it’s usually only a few seconds and it’s thrown towards the end of the report. It’s human nature (because of our inherited ‘sin’) that we gravitate below The Thin Line. In fact, it takes some effort to try to remain above the line, doesn’t it? What are we to do? After all, our goals should be to remain above the line – but, we continue to fall lower and lower. What is happening?!

Next week we’ll go deeper into what we CAN do and how to use your ‘Encouragement’ as the best tool to carry others ABOVE The Thin Line – you just might get carried above it, too!

THE Most Important Message

Mike's Super Looong, Hard-to-Swallow, and Most Important Sunday Message

!WARNING! This is a lengthy Sunday message (about a 6-7 min. read). The beauty is you don’t have to read it, or you can read it when you have 6-7 minutes of free time. Considering a typical Sunday Worship service lasts 1-2 hours, I think this message is pretty short.

Here it is. The MOST IMPORTANT (and difficult) Sunday message I could share to ALL CHRISTIANS. It might take you about 6-7 minutes to read through but, I think, it’ll be worth it. It’ll either shed a different light on your Christianity or it’ll write me off as a crazy person. Also, please bear in mind that this is NOT a message I decided to ‘dream-up at my kitchen table’. It is something I am relaying that I was ‘told’ during my ‘4-Second Death’. In fact, the message still surprises me – and it has altered my life tenfold! Keep in mind that I am NOT telling ANYONE to do this – the choice HAS to be from YOU as that is the only deciding factor that matters! Here goes.

“I’m on 3rd base, ready to steal home – if only that catcher wasn’t in my way!” “I caught the pass – now on my way to score a touchdown! If only these linebackers weren’t in my way (CRUNCH!)” “I lined up my shot, stick is on the ice…I shoot…ugh, blocked by the goalie!” Yes, all sporting scenarios – good examples. You have a goal in mind. That said-goal is met with ‘opposition’ preventing you from reaching that goal.

As a Christian, what is your goal? It should be to live a Christ-like life and to know God so that you may enter Heaven. Sure, you’ll meet obstacles head-on, but you’ll tackle them as best as you can – after all, Christ is with you! Your unwavering religion will carry you through like it always has! But, could it be, after all these years – that you’ve been carrying that obstacle with you? That ‘wedge’ that is directly in your path towards knowing God, personally? Yes, PERSONALLY! You might think you have that relationship right now but, for many of you, according to God’s eyes, you fall short. I told you this was a difficult message.

Christians follow Christ. We love Jesus. We love His teachings, His life, His death and ultimate resurrection. We pour our heart & soul into Him. No wedges here! Well, what if I was to tell you (actually, I AM telling you) that your religion (ANY religion) – complete with its practices, rituals, propaganda, paraphernalia, trinkets, clergy, etc., was (is) the major wedge between you and God? (Right here is where people walk out on me. Please, read on if you can.)

If you truly follow Jesus’ life and teachings, you will also know how He taught others to ‘ignore’ the ‘laws’ that people were performing to ‘get to God’. Jesus was here to show us how to have a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD – and God is NOT as far away, up in the sky, as you think – He (the Holy Spirit) is only INCHES AWAY from you! God wants to be your BUDDY! (He is right next to me all day!)

Jesus didn’t use any practices, rituals, propaganda, paraphernalia, trinkets, clergy, etc., to get that relationship going! He was AGAINST all that – that ‘great religious wedge’ – the complete opposite of what organized religions teach us! Jesus taught 12 people to do it this way – this is God, Himself, teaching! These men then went out and taught others, eventually leading to Paul (Saul of Tarsus, a former Christian-Killer, who was eventually to begin the Christian church). Paul went out and did the same – taught the way Jesus MEANT it to be! Then, along came ‘The Want for Power’ – organized religion – the ultimate wedge!

“Organized religion should be ‘safe’ – after all, everyone is doing it!” Ask yourself: Did Jesus do ANY of the things that my church is doing? Organized religion’s use of holy water (impossible to exist as Man CANNOT make water Holy), the body-motions for certain rituals, statue-prayings, rosary beads, crucifixes – Jesus used NONE of these things (of course not the crucifix, which is an idol, anyway)  – and the ONLY reason WE do act this way is because of our upbringings, our locale, and our ethnic backgrounds – 1700+ years of habits – not good ones as far as God sees.

“So, are you telling me I shouldn’t go to church?” No, I’m not. ‘Church’ is us. There are many, many ‘meeting places’ where people gather to put aside their religions to worship and understand God, Jesus, and The Bible (old and new testaments). These are non-denominational gatherings. The ‘people’ make up the church – just as Jesus intended.

I was raised Roman-Catholic for 3 reasons; I’m Italian, I lived in Brooklyn, and my parents did it, too. I knew nothing else. (After 8th grade, I broke from Catholicism and was free to do what I wanted – sans God.) I only understood God after my 4-second death at 51. I’m still in disbelief! But, since then, I live every second of my life with God RIGHT NEXT TO ME – using ZERO religion (His intended way)! I view living through God’s eyes, treat people God-like – I live with an awesome HOPE that I’ve NEVER had before! This is wonderful! So, what am I asking? I ask nothing. My ‘job’ is to simply tell my story.

Should you stop following an organized religion? Take away its wedges that stand between you and God? For the only things that should be in your path to have a TRUE relationship with God are Jesus’ teachings and The Holy Bible. Your spirit WILL connect with The Holy Spirit ONLY when you include Jesus, The Bible and NOTHING ELSE.  Old dog, new tricks? Hardly. A life-long process, instead.

If you made it to the end of this lengthy message, I applaud your curiosity. Again, this must be your choice to make. Do not do anything I’ve said – I’m not telling YOU to do it. It must come from YOU. Maybe my story (God’s message) can help in your decisions…maybe not. This is the way I will be teaching in the ministry I’m beginning called, The People’s Church (no Judge Milian here). It will be open to all. Others will be taught this way - to go out and do the same thing. Times have seriously altered. People have changed. Ministry MUST change with these alterations. No degree needed – we are ALL clergy! If your religion is doing what Jesus didn’t, it’s time to question it. A very difficult question to ask yourself. Don’t be afraid of what your family, friends or current church thinks of you – more importantly, care what God knows of you.

The Easter Reason

“Hippity-Hoppity, Easter’s on its way!” Not only is it ‘on its way’ – it’s HERE! So is the Jewish celebration of Passover and the Earth’s celebration of Springtime (although, that was a few weeks back). So, what is ‘Easter’ anyway? I know it involves chocolate, bonnets, the Spring, patent-leather shoes (well, maybe not anymore…), The Wizard of Oz on TV, Peeps, colored eggs displayed in a cheap CVS basket (after finding them throughout the house-hunt), oh…and Jesus. Yeah, THAT guy!


‘Ostara’ is the pagan celebration for the spring equinox. It recognizes how the earth has been ‘reborn’ after a cold and nasty winter. It represents how the fertility and birth of the ‘new’ animals are born into this world (this is also why the ‘egg’ is recognized). It is a joyous celebration of the word, ‘NEW’, and also the word, ‘HOPE’. Life has begun, again – thanks to God’s Code – put in place many years ago! Ok, enough History lesson.


Jesus, after being killed on the cross, beats ‘death’, and becomes ‘NEW’ while offering ‘HOPE’ – a perfect reminder around springtime! God’s perfect Code originally created a ‘perfect’ male and female (but, man has a way of altering things). Our codes were directly given to us from our parents – Jesus’ code was a bit different. God needed to come to earth, as a human, to rescue EVERYONE! Jesus’ code was made up of His mother’s code (Mary), and His Father’s Code, (God) – THE perfect Code, once again – a new ‘Adam’ if you will!


Jesus was here to teach. He was here to ensure that EVERYONE who simply listens to the Father (God) and does it through Jesus (Himself), will live, forever, with God (yes, really God, the Master Code-maker), in Heaven (a very real place) and could NEVER die! (actually, no one ever truly dies, but not everyone will get to Heaven). Jesus took the Jewish law that was FOR God and changed it into everyone having a RELATIONSHIP WITH God! This was Jesus/God’s mission - successfully completed on, what we celebrate as, Easter Sunday.


Do NOT feel we are ‘Easterless’ this year!! While the celebrating of it will be different, right now, this is THE time to REALLY understand WHAT EASTER MEANS! You might not be with some family for Easter, but, rest-assured, know that God IS with you – you just have to invite Him in for dinner!! Happy Easter!


Next week: THE most IMPORTANT MESSAGE you will read! So important that all of these other messages rely on this ONE POINT! I’ve ‘lost’ a few readers/listeners because of its content and I expect to lose a few more. Don’t shoot the messenger – I’m only relaying what I was ‘told’ during my 4-second death.

"Call Me When You Need Me."

“I’ll never fit this couch in my car. I’d better call Jason; he’ll have his truck here in no time then we could easily move this monster, together! (calls on cell) – Hey, Jason? It’s Brandon!”

“Hi, Brandon! I haven’t heard from you in a while. What’s up?”

Brandon then relates his dilemma to Jason. True he hasn’t contacted Jason in quite some time – in fact, Brandon really didn’t like hanging around with him – he was kind of ‘annoying’. But Jason was the ‘guy with the truck’ – and Brandon needed him.

“They only call on Me when they need Me.” I could just hear those words coming out of God’s mouth. I’m certain He mutters those words every second of the day (not really, but you know what I mean). How often do you talk to God? Do you talk to God ONLY when you need Him? A situation arises where you could ‘use God’s help’. What happened last month? Last year? Ten years ago? Did you talk to God every day? Or did you only call on Him when you needed ‘furniture moved’?

We are going through some rough times, right now. The more I’m on social media, the more I see prayer request upon prayer request – that is WONDERFUL news! It also saddens me a bit. While it is gratifying to see people ‘come forward’ with their prayers and knowledge of God, now that we have the momentum, DO NOT STOP – it just might affect others! But, sadly, for the majority, these posted prayers and acknowledgments towards God will cease – because we wouldn’t ‘need Him any longer’.

Here’s a stat compiled from Pastor Steve Elzinga’s ‘Preaching Book’: “1% of people come to know God through evangelic preaching in a church building. However, a whopping 80%+ come to know God through a friend, family or personal experience” (me, being public enemy #1, was shown by the latter)! That means it is up to YOU! Jesus taught 12 people over 2,000 years ago – look what’s happened?!! YOU are the minister! NO SCHOOLING NECESSARY! God GAVE you the right to share His name by doing the things you do! Don’t EVER feel that a member of the ‘clergy’ is closer to God than YOU are – we are ALL THE SAME - if or when you decide to know Him!

If you ARE serious and you DO love God – NEVER be ashamed of it! Never worry what ‘others will think of you’! Never stop showing others that He’s in your life! In the absolute end, it’s YOU that will receive the ultimate reward – and I mean that, literally! When this Corona thing dies down remember to keep your spirit continually looking up to God! Post it – it’s OK!

Can't See it, but It's There

Seeing is believing. But not just seeing with our eyes – any one of our senses could help us to believe. And when two or more senses combine, believing comes easier – it’s called, logic. For if we’re asked to ‘believe’ someone, basically they’re asking us to ‘drop’ our senses, for a moment, and simply listen to their tale. Whether you believe their story, or not, strictly depends on A) who is telling the tale and B) how genuine is their telling of it? You can’t use any of your own senses, so you’re left with faith. Seeing IS believing but, in faith, believing is seeing!


Yes, we’re all tired (and admittedly fearful) of talking about Covid-19. We believe it and know it. Although we can’t see it (smell it, etc.), in that we could avoid it, we know it’s there. It’s a fact. It leaves its imprint on us. And when we look hard enough (through a microscope) we finally DO see it and KNOW it’s there! That’s where the ‘logic’ comes in, for if we didn’t ‘see’ it, we wouldn’t know what the heck was attacking us! Our belief in God works the same way. We can’t use any of our senses to solidify a belief in Him but, if we look hard enough (through our ‘spiritual’ microscope), we finally DO see Him and thereby KNOW Him.


Fortunately, our way of life on this planet is made up of logical choices. From our justice system to survival skills, our senses help us make our choices. If not, we would simply revert back to medieval times! “See here, Caruthers! You have been found guilty of horse-napping! How do you plead?” “Not guilty, sire…” “Wrong! Although we have no evidence (no senses used) we still THINK you did it! You’re sentenced to hang!” Thankfully our justice system doesn’t work that way (although, sometimes you’d think it does!).


Such is our ‘test’ with God. We CAN see Him! You just have to look hard enough – He’s everywhere! He’s in the universe He created, the animals, the food, the flora and, especially, us! If you can’t ‘see’ Him, look harder. If you see Him but choose NOT to see Him, that’s fine – it’s your choice. I wish we COULD ‘see’ the Corona virus – it would make avoiding it a lot easier! I wish we COULD ‘see’ God – it would make knowing Him a lot easier! We could avoid one and gravitate towards the other. But, in these two cases, it’s not to be. The evidence is there, for both – but they elude our immediate senses. Faith takes a huge step in both of these instances.


We’re at a point where most of man’s earthly things have been taken away – a good time to finally see God and His creations – not ours.

'Selling' Corona

Mike's (Not So) Easy Sunday Message

“Covid-19! Get your Covid-19, here!”, the street vendor called out as people passed him by. “It’s free! Covid-19, free for all! Step right up!” Are you angry with this vendor? I mean, he’s giving away Covid-19!! I don’t want to get it from him! I don’t want to get it at all! The nerve of him giving people Covid-19!


This is the dilemma we’re faced with today – people ‘giving’ other people the Covid-19 virus. Let’s face it; that is happening. People that might show symptoms, haven’t been diagnosed, and are still ‘walking the streets’ possibly infecting others! This is where YOU come in! YOU have to take the responsibility and use your common sense to avoid these situations. It might not be the ‘100% cure-all’ but, it will lower your odds of getting it. Always assume there’s going to be someone else who will act carelessly in these times. In the end it’s You who must avoid other’s carelessness! And, if you do know God, guess what: you are NOT IMMUNE to Covid!


So, where is God? He’s right here. Why does He allow us to suffer like this? He doesn’t ‘allow’ anything. Then why is there a God? Or, is there even a God? Once you stop thinking that God is ‘The Magic-Man’ with His magic-wand that ‘runs the world’ and decides everyone’s fate, you will have a much easier time knowing what God is and what role He plays in our existence.


People, careless or not, act on their own thoughts and free will. They choose to ‘do what they want’ regardless of any dire circumstances or outcomes. But there are some who ‘talk to God’ and live through His advice, and there are others who don’t talk to God and decide to live through their own advice. Weigh those two choices in your mind for a while. Ask yourself; Would I rather be ‘in-tune’ with God and the laws that He set forth? Or would I rather ignore these natural laws and only do what I want? That’s the difference between people that pray (seeking God’s ‘natural’ and moral advice) and those that don’t pray.


If anyone reading this has (or will contract) Covid-19, do not BLAME anyone. If there is a ‘vendor on a street corner’ giving out the virus, take care (don’t be care-LESS), keep your distance, and don’t accept it. For you will know if you’ve worked diligently enough to avoid Covid-19. It is up to YOU! Ask God to guide you into making sensible decisions. Prayer will make all the difference in the choices you make!

The Covid Invasion

“Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt this week’s Mike’s Super Easy Sunday Message with this Special Report brought to you by Mike’s Super Easy Sunday Message! Due to the recent attacks by the invading alien army (known as Covid-19), humans around the entire world, for the first time, have banded together to fight a common enemy  – not in the name of religion or politics – but, in the name of ‘survival of our species’, humans! This unprecedented act of bacteria-warfare has found people with different religious beliefs, republicans, democrats and those that like. or don’t like. Morton Downey Jr., to come together and realize that, deep down, we are ALL SIMPLY HUMAN!

It has also been found during this global-banding that more and more people have been praying – yes, praying – in hopes that this alien invasion would be put down and eradicated! It has also been found that small pockets of humans have questioned God as to why He would send us this Covid-19 pandemic! (The word ‘pandemic’ is a very scary word but, it only refers to the rapid spread of a ‘thing’, not the severity of that ‘thing’.) Here’s what our reporters have discovered:

First off, know this – God did NOT ‘send’ the Covid-19s. If any of you have been following the Super Easy Sunday Message, you should recall that everything is made up of a code (see past messages) and that codes can alter, mutate and ‘go rogue’ because of what mankind has done and the environments we’ve created. This Covid-19 is one such ‘rogue code’. It exists for its own survival while altering ours! God, as always, loves us and would not do this to us, ever!

Secondly, prayers to God, during this time of ‘fear and uncertainty’, should not be used in the following way: “God, please don’t let myself, my family or my friends get the Covid-19 virus!” A decision like that is NOT in God’s hands – it is in our own! Do you really think God is deciding who gets, or who doesn’t get Covid-19; who lives, or who doesn’t live, because of Covid-19?! NOOOO! Because when you pray that last (wrong) prayer, and it doesn’t ‘go your way’, your ‘belief and faith in God’ tends to dwindle and vanish. This CAN’T happen!

The proper prayer should go something like this: “God, if I, my family or friends, ever do contract Covid-19, please guide me to find the proper help to battle the illness. Put me in the hands of individuals that have been trained to alleviate this ‘attack’; our healthcare practitioners, hospitals, law enforcement, rescue personnel and our political leaders (whichever party they’re affiliated with, because God doesn’t care) so we may get through this, together – ALL of us! And, God, let the biologists and scientists find a way to assist us during this time. I ask it in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

It’s up to us. We ARE banding together to fight Covid-19. We must still look to God for GUIDANCE only, as this is something WE must take care of WITH His guidance – not to sit back and let God ‘handle it’ – He will handle US later on because THAT is His true job! In the meantime, KEEP your FAITH and KNOW GOD, for THAT is the vaccine we most desperately need!”

Talkin' to Myself

“I really should get my day together. I think I’ll eat some breakfast, a bowl of cereal, get dressed, go down to the Dollar Store, purchase what I need, there, then I could head on over to buy some new clothes – maybe I’ll get those new jeans I was looking at. Oops, time to make a left turn. I wonder what’s going on for dinner. Maybe I’ll call some family members to see if they want to get together…” Thoughts, thoughts, thoughts. Most people say that if you ‘talk to yourself’, you’re crazy! It’s OK to silently THINK these things but, not out loud! Just who, or what, are we talking to?

All day – every minute, every second - you talk to yourself! In fact, you MUST! It keeps you alive. It keeps you on-track, safe, planned, logical (sometimes) – it’s our mind at work and it’s completely natural! Then why can’t we make any decision by simply thinking about that decision? Why must we ALWAYS speak in complete sentences, in our heads (or out loud), the exact steps we need to take to make our decisions happen? The answer is this: you are, knowingly or not, praying – communicating with some unseen force! It’s inherent in all of us to ‘speak or think’ what we are feeling. It gives some rationality to our decisions. And, for those that know Him, God is the One that we communicate to! It gives us confidence knowing we received Word from The Boss!

The hard fact is an eye-opener; we are ON OUR OWN! WHAATT?!? Where is God? I’ll tell you what God is NOT. He is NOT some genie that’s bottled up awaiting your command and wishes! You can go to God with ANYTHING that’s on your mind – finances, relationships, health – you will know EXACTLY what God tells you, however, YOU must carry it out – not God!

There are 3 Prayer-Types of people: 1) Those that think and talk to themselves (praying) but have no knowledge of God, nor that they’re even praying to Him. 2) Those that do pray to God but wind up doing they’re own thing, anyway. 3) Those that pray to God and ‘listen and act’ upon what He advises. Either way – each and every one of us ‘prays’ - it’s our God-given nature! The next time you think and/or talk to yourself (which will be in about 2 seconds) realize that it’s a gift God gave you to communicate with Him! Do you know who you’re ‘praying’ to? Which Prayer-Type are you?

The Lenten Ritual

“Excuse me sir, there’s dirt on your forehead.”
“Oh, yes, thank you. It’s Ash Wednesday. I smudged my head with burnt palm to show Jesus that I care and I’m ready to enter Heaven.”
“OK. Good for you. Have a nice day!”

It’s the Lenten Season – 40 business days, 44 other days of some other calculation, 46 days counting every day until Easter Sunday – listen, I have no idea why (this calculation changed even as late as 1970). All I was told, as a kid, is that we have to ‘get our ashes’ and ‘give up chocolate’! In addition to this crazy idea of not eating chocolate for 40-somewhat days, there was NO MEAT ALLOWED on Fridays during this ‘season’. WHHAATT?!? “Mom, I’m an under-nourished kid! I need a burger or some Boar’s Head ham!” But my parents insisted that I live in eternity with Jesus – so, I abided.

So, here’s the absolute God-messaged, truth: You do NOT have to perform some, any or all of the above-mentioned rituals! God does NOT care if this is done! However, yes, you are doing ‘something’ in Jesus’ name (which is fine, in and of itself) but nothing, and I mean NOTHING you ‘DO’ for Lent or any other ‘religious ritual’ will ‘get you into Heaven’ – NOTHING!

Lent was ‘invented’ by man. So was ‘Meatless Fridays’. The only thing standing between you and living in Heaven with God is YOUR KNOWING of HIM through Jesus Christ’s life and teachings! Also, living a ‘life’ in Christ’s name while honoring God in everything you do! No ‘converting’ is EVER necessary! Jews don’t have to NOT be Jews – they can remain EXACTLY as they are! This goes for EVERY NATIONALITY – STAY YOURSELVES! A ‘conversion’ involves Religion – and that is what God is NOT about!

Mankind has made ‘getting into Heaven’ VERY difficult when, in fact, it’s ridiculously easy! My goal? I have none. I’m not here writing these weekly messages in the hopes that “I get 20 people this week to ‘come over’ to MY side, Bwahahahaha!!!!!” (evil laugh)! You may do and think as you feel. My new ‘contract’ with God is to tell the story – the true story. I don’t earn commission on ‘convincing people’ to know Christ. The most important thing I gave up for Lent was Religion. Don’t let ‘Religion’ distract you from God. See you next week (unless, of course, you’ve given me up for Lent as I put a bad taste in your mouth from this message)!
