The Drone of Church

Mike's Super Easy (but, a bit lengthy) Sunday Message

Your buttocks are numb. You’ve been staring at the same object for what seems like 3 hours. Your intelligence seems to have escaped you and you couldn’t make a fist if your life depended on it. Your name has fled your thoughts and you slightly recognize the strange faces sitting next to you. Your mind is thinking, “I wonder what’s for dinner? Hmm, in the meantime, which NFL teams are playing? I have a big week ahead of me – not sure how I’m gonna face it! And why does that guy sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher? Where AM I?!?” You must be at church. And for most people THIS is their church experience! What, why and where is church!?

Church: a weekly meeting place where people gather together to worship God. A place where people can go to ‘reset’ their sins to a ‘clean-slate’ before they face a new week of sins! “OK, now that church is done, let’s go back to our ‘normal’ selves, OK kids?” Unfortunately, you’ve missed the message. In fact, you might not have even HEARD the message let alone put it into practice in your life. And, guess what – it’s NOT YOU FAULT! ‘Church’ did NOT do what it set out to DO! This is a sad but, common occurrence. Keep in mind that ‘church’ is the ‘people, not the steeple’!

Whether you worship with a group in a cramped 2x2 room or a huge stadium, God cares not. He DOES care, in the fact, that you ARE worshipping Him! It’s about a community of like-minded, like-hearted individuals gathering together as ONE BODY for GOD! THAT is CHURCH!

For the past few months I’ve been a ‘travelling’ minister, speaking here and there at specific groups or individuals, about God, why He wants you, and HOW you can live this crazy life with God first (it makes being alive easier and worthwhile!) Churches are supposed to teach this and, more importantly, WE are supposed to understand what they’re teaching! But, we don’t.

When I ‘died’ for 4-seconds back in 2016, I was revived with dozens of ‘truths’ that I couldn’t have learned in 80 years of schooling on earth! God has led me in a new direction – I’m going to form a ‘church’ – God’s time and place (which means, I don’t know these answers, yet). I do know that, although I will take the reigns as far as what topic we’ll ALL talk about - while controlling the ‘flow’ of the service – I will NOT be its only speaker. This church will be OPEN for EVERYONE to speak their voice on whatever topic we’re on – a PEOPLE’S CHURCH!

I will not stand ‘on the pulpit’ while droningly reading the Bible at you, although we will be quoting the Bible to help in our topic. I will speak in ‘plain English’ – emphasis on PLAIN as my English ‘ain’t quite that excellent’! Service will last about 45 minutes – I believe doable for all. More importantly, you WILL take the message away with you when you leave – the sign of a successful service! God’s successful service! Let’s do this together – worship God, through Jesus, using the Bible and prayer, talking in HUMAN language so even a 5-year-old could understand! God isn’t telling me to ‘do this for a living’. Instead, God has kept me ‘living to DO this!’
